3rd Test: Pakistan vs West Indies – Pak Seal Victory Against WI IN 3rd Match Full Match Summary and Scorecard

The 3rd and the last Test match of the series between Pakistan and West Indies was being played from 10-14 May, 2017 at the Windsor Park in Dominica. As Pakistan, won the match by 101 runs, with a dramatic end. It was an interesting Test match to watch, and critics called it a historical victory for Pakistan cricket team. Though West Indies cricket team put a lot of effort to make it happen but in the end Pakistan snatched the draw from West Indies and made it into  a victory, Yasir Shah sealed the 101 run win over the WI with one over left. As the 3 Test match series was already level with 1-1, so both teams did their best to save or win this match.

This match was also important because of legendary Pakistani duo retiring, Misbah ul Haq the skipper and Younis Khan played their last match. And they ended their career on a high note.

Day 1

West Indies won the toss and choose to field first. Pakistan were truly on the top for first day of the 3rd Test, as Babar Azam and Azhar Ali both scored their half centuries. After Shan Masood lost his wicket early, Babar Azam and Azhar Ali’s partnership gave a strong relief to the score. They both added 120 runs together. Babar Azam was dismissed with a catch by K. Powell on Azlarri Joseph’s delivery. Azhar Ali remained on the crease Not Out on 85 till the end of the day. Rain interrupted the first day & the bad light stopped play and match was only played for 69 overs with Pakistan’s first innings score 169/2 for Day 1. The 1st day was named to Pakistani Batsmen, the rain and bad light.

On Day 2, Azhar Ali was joined by Younis Khan who recently scored his 10 thousand runs in the second PakVSWI Test match. Azhar Ali who scored his 14th Test century. Younis departed shortly on 18 and was given LBW on Jason Holder’s delivery. Next came, The Pakistani captain Misbah Ul Haq who gave his full support by scoring a half century and helped Pakistan to give a good total in the first inning. Sarfaraz Ahmed also scored his half century. Pakistan gave the total of 376 for all out in the first innings. The highlight of the West Indies bowling was Roston Chase who took 4 wickets. The day ended with West Indies batsmen on the crease with the score of 14 for no loss.

Day 3

West Indies resumed their batting in a good way, but got into the trouble when they were down to 97/3. Roston Chase provided much needed résistance to West Indian side with his 60 before struck his elbow on a short ball of Muhammad Amir and got retired hurt. His batting was the prominent batting highlight for the 3rd day of the 3rd Test match at Windsor Park. Yasir Shah took 3 wickets. The day ended with West Indies’ score 215/5 still trailing Pakistan cricket team by 158 runs.

Day 4

4th day started and West Indies batting side who were looking in a strong position with 5 wickets in hand on day 3, couldn’t go much further and all out on 247.  Muhammad Abbas took 5 wickets. Pakistan started their batting and lost early wickets, Shan Masood and Younis khan played their role and stood for a little while on the crease. Then Shan Masood left the pitch for 21 who got LBW on Gabriel’s delivery. Misbah Ul Haq came, warmly welcomed by teammate Younis Khan and West Indian players. But unfortunately couldn’t stand longer got out on 2 by Bishoo. On his return to pavilion, His teammates gave him guard of honor by lifting their bats above his head. Younis Khan met the same treatment after he lost his wicket. Pakistan declared their innings on 174/8,Yasir Shah was the top scorer for 38 Not Out. Alzarri Joseph was the leading wicket taker with 3 wickets. Pakistan gave the total of 304 to West Indies to win.

Day 5

West Indies resumed their inning on 7/1 and had to chase more 297 runs with 9 wickets in hand. Pakistani bowlers were on the top for most of the day, until Roston Chase converted into a nervy contest with his unbeaten century. It was a dramatic day at Windsor Park as Pakistan had to struggle for the victory till the second last over. Yasir Shah bowled Gabriel and named the victory for Pakistan by 101 runs. Chase struggle went all in vain and was unbeaten at 101 Not Out. Yasir Shah took 5 wickets and Hassan Ali who made his debut took 3 wickets. Pakistan also won the series by 2-1. This was the first time Pakistan have ever won a Test series in the Caribbean. Roston chase was named as the Man of the Match for scoring 69 in his first innings and 101* in the second. Yasir Shah was named the Man of the Series for taking 25 wickets in all 3 matches.

This is the end of an era as the legendary duo for the last time stepped into the field for Pakistan. On the first day of the 3rd Test all Pakistani players welcomed both into the ground with guard of honor as a mark of appreciation for their efforts and contributions to the game and Pakistan cricket. When Younis and Misbah entered in the ground West Indian players also welcomed them with the guard of honor. both players wrapped in Pakistani flags on their shoulders and walked them in a round in the ground. and they couldn’t stop smiling. Current and former cricketers took social media to praise both players for their successful careers.

With a success Younis Khan took retirement, he score 10,099 Test runs in 118 matches, first Pakistani player to reach 10,000 runs and 13th in the world. He also scored 34 Test centuries (most by a Pakistani player and 6th player in the world rank) and 33 half centuries. He also scored 7,000+ runs in ODIS and won T20 World Cup for Pakistan.

Misbah ul Haq scored 5,222 runs in 75 Tests, with 10 centuries and 39 half centuries. In his captaincy Pakistan cricket team managed to become No. 1 Test team in ICC Test rankings for the first time in history. He also scored the fastest Test century.  In ODIs he scored more than 5 thousand runs in 162 matches with 42 half centuries.
